Can I call the line with COVID-19 questions?

Yes. The nurse triage line is trained on all NYC protocols for handling potential COVID cases.

How do I reach the nurse line?

Simply call the nurse line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 833-717-7117.

Who is eligible to use the nurse line services?

Is there a cost to use this service?

No, the call is free; there is no charge to shelter residents to use the nurse line.

When should I call the nurse line?

  • When you are experiencing symptoms and want information on care (self-care, go to Urgent Care, make an appointment, etc.)
  • When you have questions or concerns about a chronic condition (Diabetes, COPD, Heart Disease, Asthma, Congestive Heart Failure)
  • If you need information about the Coronavirus/COVID 19
  • If you have questions about your medications

What information do I need to provide when calling the nurse line?

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Phone number (personal or shelter)
  • Zip code (of shelter)
  • Shelter location (street)

Will the nurse line help with finding dental or eyecare?

Yes, the nurse line can check for services for you.

Will my personal information be shared with others?

We will protect the privacy of your personal health information as required by federal and state privacy laws. Information you provide during this call will be included in anonymous reports to the NYC Shelter Medical Director’s Office and their representatives. None of the reported information will include names or identify you.

What languages does the nurse line support?

The nurse line has bilingual Spanish-English speaking coaches, as well as translation services for 200 additional languages.
